This is the essay for the 3rd week of the 7th Grade Ron Paul Curriculum. It’s about the person who shaped me the most.

The person who shaped me the most (or second most) is my father.

He wants me to learn economics, do RPC, four square writing method and other similar things. My dad believes in free market economics or otherwise called Austrian economics and in Justice.

He taught me into believe in these things and believe in them I do. Justice teaches that common law is better than political law.

Common law is a type of government system where the government is not allowed to make very much laws regulations. Common law is based on the two laws that make civilization possible: Do all you have agreed to do and Do not encroach on other people or their property. Common law allowed early America flourish with prosperity, but in the 20th century America turned to political law and started making new laws, like crazy. Today there are very few or zero countries in the world that still use common law.

There are a few types of economics the one I will talk about is Austrian economics.

Austrian economics teaches similar things to Common law, except it has more to do with economics (obviously). It teaches that the free market should handle the market and the government shouldn’t mess with it. Alas, the government has intervened and does stuff,  like saving failing businesses from bankruptcy, giving some businesses a monopoly over a industry and making new regulations so it’s harder for new businesses to start up.

You might be thinking: The government saving failing businesses is a good thing! This is not a good thing! These businesses are using scarce resources and destroying value. If the market, likes the product or service the business is creating they shall buy their products or services and the business will get more money to improve their product or service, for creating value.

If the market doesn’t like the product or service the business will lose money for destroying value. If the business does this too much they will go bankrupt and the scarce resources they used will be used for more valuable products or services. If the government intervenes in this process  the the business will still be destroying value and using scarce resources.

The point I’m trying to make is that governments are bad for the economy and shouldn’t intervene in almost anything.

The other thing my dad taught me is the four square writing method.

The four square writing method makes making organized and structured blog post easier. I have made some of my blog post with this method.

My dad tells me that creativity is one of the things AI can’t do (not yet). So i should write down all the ideas that pop in my head. They don’t need to be good ideas they could be bad ideas even! Later maybe one of those things will create a business.

These are only a few things my dad has taught me and there are so many more, but that would make this blog post so much longer so I’ll just keep it here.

By the way the things I covered in this blog post are not explained in the best way. I would recommend you read these books about Justice and Economics. Whatever happened to Justice? and Whatever happened to Penny Candy?
