The Peloponnesian Wars came after the Persian Wars when Athens was in its golden age. It started by Athens taking over Megara, Sparta’s ally. Sparta got upset and started the First Peloponnesian War. At the end of the war Athens and Sparta signed a truce known as the Thirty Year Treaty (which actually lasted thirty-five years).

The Second Peloponnesian War was also named as the Archidamian War. It started when Sparta attacked Attica, which is near Athens, because they had broken their peace treaty. In 430 BCE a plague hit Athens and 30,000 people died along with Pericles who was a really important Athenian general, which made Athens very weak. After that Athens was going downhill. The Second Peloponnesian War ended when Sparta took over Sicily near Italy.

The Corinthian War was the followup to the Peloponnsian Wars. It started when  Thebes and Corinth, being upset about the Athenian downfall, started rebelling against Sparta. Persia wanted to regain control and decided that they would weaken both Sparta and Athens. First Persia was on the side of Athens and later Sparta. At one point in the war there was peace for six years. At the end of the war Greece was very weak and later would be conquered by Philip of Macedon and later, Rome.
