The Western Roman Empire fell during 476 AD because bad emperors caused the empire more problems than it already had, like wasting money on statues and games.

The last emperor of Rome was Romulus Augustulus, which is also the name of the founder of Rome. Romulus became emperor when his dad, an important military general, pushed the previous emperor Julius Nero off the throne and put his son on it. Romulus Augustulus was not a very powerful emperor and was exiled after being deposed. Another emperor was never appointed after. This is marked as the end of the empire of the west.

Rome became weak for several reasons. One reason Roe weakened was because the empire began using barbarian men in their army, they did not want to fight other tribes and often deserted. The people in Rome also became lazy and no longer wanted to work because the emperors had given them too much free food and entertainment. The final reason Rome grew weak is because Diocletian split the Empire into two parts, the east and the west. After his death civil war broke out.

The people of Rome were never given another emperor and the western empire never rose again.
